Compound Cost Estimator

Estimate how much a user-entered schedule would cost based on package size, package price, amount per use, frequency and duration. The calculator performs arithmetic only and does not recommend an amount or schedule.

STEP 01

Enter package details

STEP 02

Enter your planned use

STEP 03

Set the duration

How the compound cost estimator works

Enter the amount contained in one vial or container and its price, then enter your own amount per administration, frequency and duration. The estimator calculates the approximate number of administrations, total amount required, whole containers that would need to be purchased, purchase cost and estimated leftover.

Why does the calculator round containers up?

You generally cannot purchase a fraction of a vial or container. The purchase estimate therefore rounds the required number of containers up to the next whole container. This can make the actual purchase cost higher than the theoretical cost of the amount used.

What is “material cost per use”?

This is the proportional cost of the amount entered for one administration: amount per use ÷ amount per container × container price. It does not account for the extra cost created by buying whole containers.

How are frequencies estimated?

Daily, every-other-day, weekly and every-X-days schedules are estimated across the selected duration. For “X times per week,” the calculator scales the entered weekly frequency across the duration. Partial weeks are estimates, so an actual dated calendar may produce a slightly different count.

The Supply / Run-Out Calculator answers the reverse question: given the amount you already have and a user-entered schedule, approximately how long will the supply last?
